Revell 17cm Kannone 18 (And an update on personal affairs)

Finally, I'm in the mood to post!

It's been about a month since I last posted, and I am terribly sorry to those who were patiently waiting to see  my take on the Revell Kannone 18.

Any ways, the reason I haven't been posting is not because I've laid off the brushes (quite the opposite actually). I've been renovating the house, and have either been too busy working, or the internet wasn't even available. Sorry I haven't commented on your work either.

Wednesday night in Soviet Ottawa, we had a good 25cm of wet heavy snow in about 8 hours. So no electricity, no internet and not TV, great! Besides taking a beautiful walk, and shovel snow for 2 hours, I couldn't do anything.

I've been painting my Stalingrad building, my Fallschirmjaeger, my Waffen SS, and my Soviets.
On to the Revell kit. It's the final part of the Revell "superkit". This gun is absolutely IMMENSE. Imagine comparing an old GI Joe cannon to 1/72 figures, and you'd get the idea!

Sorry for the blurry photos, I am still perfecting my photography skills.

It's no Gustav gun, but it is presently by far the biggest cannon (and model) I own.

Here it is with it's tow, the Revell Sd.Kfz 9 (with Revell's German Artillery wagon riders as crew)

Does anyone know were I could get a nice, affordable crew for this monster? Please leave suggestions in the comments.

Next up: Armourfast Crusader II

Thanks for reading!

  1. Well done FF. It looks a real beauty. As for the crew...Revell 105mm Gun and horse set?

    1. This is definitely the most complex model I have ever built. My only problem with using the Revell crew, is 1 the price, and 2 I end up with two empty guns.

      Thanks Paul!

  3. It's certainly frustrating when daily life gets in the way of the important stuff ;-)

That's a big piece of ordnance! You could try someone like AB models for crew. Metal and pricier than plastic, but at least you wouldn't be wasting another gun.

    1. Good idea with the AB crew, I'll have to check them out.

      Thanks!

  4. Impressive canon! Wonder how that could be employed on the table?

    1. I haven't thought of that yet, maybe as an objective to be destroyed by a platoon of Tommies?

      Thanks!
