Airfix M3 Grant

Good evening everyone!

I hope you've all had a wonderful weekend. Anyway, here's some work from all the way back in November!

Very nice kit, enjoyed it very much. The parts fit nicely. The M3 was definitely an interesting looking vehicle!

The only problem I had with this kit (besides it's awkward scale), is the non fitting and underscaled Grant turret. Strangely the Lee turret works fine.

This tank will be part of my "M-Squadron" of my 8th army Tank regiment, along with two M4's.

Up next: Revell Sd.Kfz 9 FAMO

  1. Very well painted and presented FF. Yes the turret rather does spoil a lovely model.

    Still it looks a treat.

    Well done.

    1. Thanks Paul! I remember seeing a replacement turret somewhere on the web (probably on willwarweb.blogspot.com).

    2. FF, a couple of the Matador resin conversions for this kit include replacement Grant turrets, but I think S&S is the one most people use. Nice pics of the finished product here:

  2. Nice job. As you say, I always thought this Airfix kit builds a better Lee, mainly due to the turret issues. But yours has come up very well. Are you planning to dirty up the tracks, they look a bit factory fresh atm... ;o)

    Cheers, Dave

    1. That's because they are! I think I have dirtied them since the photos were taken, but they don't look the same as they do in the picture.

      Thanks Dave!
